Why it exists
Writing mathematics by hand is slow, and for many people frustrating: a messy page can hide solid work. Digital tools often force markup languages, heavy interfaces, or workflows built for something else.
Stone Mate is word processing for mathematics: a digital A4 sheet where you place text, formulas, graphs, and drawings without fighting the tool. It is free, for Windows and Linux, and it does not collect usage data.
What it is for
Notes, handouts and tests, scientific writing, and readable PDFs to hand in.
- write formulas with a few keys (fractions, roots, powers…)
- add text (titles, explanations, formatting)
- insert graphs, plane drawings, and sign tables
- recognize formulas from a photo, PDF, or a screen region
- save, print, or export to Word and PDF
The program does not solve exercises: you do the steps. Stone Mate lets you focus on the mathematics, not on wrestling with the tool.
Who it is for
- Students — notes and tests in real time, including when handwriting is hard to read.
- STEM teachers — clearer handouts and exam texts, in less time.
- University students and professionals — scientific writing with formulas and figures, without opaque code.
